Senior Middleware Engineer – Messaging & HA/DR (Hybrid)

Job summary

LevelUP HCS is seeking an experienced Middleware Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, operate, and support enterprise messaging platforms (IBM MQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka) that coordinate internal trading, clearing, settlement, risk, and back-office systems.

This hands-on role requires strong ownership, high availability, and disaster-recovery capabilities in a regulated financial-services environment, with a hybrid schedule of three onsite days per week in NYC or CA (San Jose or Irvine area).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• Five+ years of experience administering enterprise middleware in production.
• Strong hands-on IBM MQ with security, HA, monitoring, and clustering.
• Experience with at least one additional messaging platform (RabbitMQ preferred).
• Designing high-availability, DR, failover, and business-continuity solutions.
• Strong Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with distributed, hybrid-cloud environments and secure connectivity.
• Proficiency in monitoring/observability tools and scripting/automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure, administer, and maintain enterprise middleware platforms (IBM MQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka).
• Serve as SME and owner for middleware infrastructure across environments.
• Implement highly available, fault-tolerant messaging architectures.
• Develop DR strategies, replication, failover, and DR testing plans.
• Lead MQ design and connectivity with external partners and service providers.
• Monitor performance and health with automated monitoring and alerts.
• Troubleshoot complex messaging and integration issues across environments.
• Automate deployment, configuration, monitoring, and recovery tasks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end integration.
