Job summary

Guardian Life seeks a Senior Middleware Engineer to design, deploy and operate resilient IBM MQ services with high availability and disaster recovery. You will work closely with app, cloud and security teams to implement enterprise messaging solutions and integrate MQ with WebSphere, Tomcat, and IBM integration tools.

Hybrid role in Bethlehem, NY with in-office 3 days per week, offering cloud exposure and strong DevOps automation using Jenkins, Ansible, Puppet, GitHub/GitLab, and AWS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of middleware engineering or administration for mission-critical apps.
• Expertise with IBM MQ v9.3/v9.4, HA, tuning, security, and production support.
• Strong experience with MQ Native High Availability, clustering, and disaster recovery.
• Design and support of HA/DR architectures for messaging platforms.
• Experience with MQ patterns like publish/subscribe and distributed queuing.
• Security-focused implementation for messaging and integration tech.
• Integration of IBM MQ with WebSphere, Tomcat, App Connect Enterprise/IBM Integration Bus, and Java apps.
• Linux/Unix administration and shell scripting for automation.
• DevOps tooling: Jenkins, Ansible, Puppet, GitHub/GitLab; cloud exposure (AWS).

Responsibilities

• Engineer and operate secure, resilient IBM MQ services with HA, clustering, and DR.
• Administer and improve WebSphere Application Server ND and Apache Tomcat.
• Automate provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and tasks with scripting and pipelines.
• Lead complex middleware troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and durable fixes.
• Collaborate with application, cloud, cybersecurity, and operations teams to align with standards.
