Job summary

The City of New York's Department of Social Services is seeking an IT Project Specialist (Middleware Developer) to design, implement, and support middleware solutions across agency programs. You will work with JAVA, IBM ESQL, IBM MQ, and Oracle SQL to deliver reliable software, while coordinating with Jira/Confluence for project tracking.

You will communicate status to stakeholders and contribute to performance analysis, database maintenance, and risk management within a busy, public-sector IT

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, data visualization, communication or a related field, and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area required by the position.
• An associate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, human computer interaction, interactive media, data visualization, communication or a related field, and six years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area required by the position.
• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to the area required by the position.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.

Responsibilities

• Perform development, integration, testing, deployment, and support of middleware applications using JAVA, ESQL, IBM tools and Oracle SQL Developer.
• Run performance analysis, design and validate software requirements and technical specs for middleware applications.
• Manage communication of tasks and project status with development teams, supervisors, and stakeholders.
• Maintain and support databases and information systems on middleware environments; define data structures and review queries.
• Identify technical tasks, delivery timelines, and project risks with the project team.
• Provide technical support to end-users and document trouble tickets in the ITSM system.

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

Associate degree + 6 years of experience
