Artisan Analytix LLC is seeking a senior developer to help design, build, and improve the resource management platform for the Department of State’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Executive Directorate (DS/EX). You will work directly with finance and resource-management specialists to turn complex planning processes into secure, intuitive applications.
This is a hands-on development role with technical leadership responsibility. You will propose solutions, prototype user experiences, personally write and review code, and support testing and release. Recent Dynamics 365 Finance and X++ experience is essential, complemented by Power Platform development skills.
You will work with project and functional leads, government owners, and technology teams to evaluate product fit and deliver within the approved architecture. Responsibilities include explaining tradeoffs among standard configuration, Finance extensions, and connected Power Apps, including reuse, licensing, government-cloud availability, performance, and maintenance.
Review existing applications, code, data, and reference materials before rebuilding functionality. Translate validated business needs into prototypes, data models, user stories, and testable acceptance criteria. Maintain traceability from requirements through implementation and test evidence. Give clear estimates, identify dependencies, and demonstrate working software regularly.
Build X++ business logic, tables, form extensions, classes, data entities, workspaces, workflows, and batch processes using supported extension patterns, including Chain of Command and event handlers. Debug issues and optimize queries and application performance. Develop connected Power Apps, Dataverse components, and Power Automate workflows where the approved design calls for them.
Create clear navigation, role-based workspaces, efficient data-entry forms, review queues, and drill-through views. Use native Finance patterns and appropriate Power Apps canvas or model-driven experiences. Validate prototypes with users and refine them based on observed friction. Address accessibility, visual consistency, and loading, empty, validation, error, and permission states.
Build configurable reference data, protected approved baselines, one working forecast with controlled snapshots, monthly close, quarterly finalization, and planning review workflows. Preserve explanations and decision history. Test financial calculations for fiscal periods, signs, precision, and rounding. Enforce critical validations and approval permissions in the underlying business logic so they apply across screens, APIs, and imports.
Use supported data entities, REST/OData APIs, approved connectors, and appropriate batch or event patterns. Build controlled imports and exports with stable identifiers, mapping, duplicate checks, reconciliation, visible exceptions, and safe retries. Preserve source lineage and as-of dates; prevent writeback to external source systems. Keep allocations, obligations, invoices, payments, and forecasts distinct. Coordinate consistent measures and reports with Power BI developers.
Use source control, code reviews, automated tests, and application life-cycle management across separate development, test, and production environments. Implement least privilege, appropriate row and field security, segregation of duties, data loss prevention, audit, and retention controls with platform and security teams. Test integrations, calculations, screen/API/import permissions, accessibility, performance, and recovery. Support user acceptance testing and government release approval.
Coordinate component designs and dependencies with other developers, review implementation quality, and resolve defects. Document configuration, integrations, deployment, monitoring, rollback or recovery, and support procedures. Contribute to operating procedures, training, and knowledge transfer. Support agreed fallback processes until retirement is authorized. Use approved development tools and data boundaries, with human review and testing of generated code.
