Job summary

IT Accel, Inc. is seeking a Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer for a 90-day W2 contract in Jersey City, NJ. The role covers owner- ship of tenant configuration and engineering to keep Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive stable during the holiday season.

You will join a hybrid model with onsite days Tue/Wed and remote other days, and participate in on-call rotation with overtime considerations. Start ASAP.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in Microsoft systems engineering with Office 365 focus.
• Hands-on Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive experience.
• Strong Entra ID (Azure AD) expertise including Conditional Access and MFA.
• Experience with Intune and Autopilot for device management.
• PowerShell scripting and Microsoft Graph experience; hybrid identity knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Administer and engineer the Microsoft 365 tenant across core services.
• Enhance tenant configuration per Microsoft best practices and security baselines.
• Manage Entra ID settings, including Conditional Access and MFA.
• Support Intune/Autopilot for device and app management; automate tasks with PowerShell.

Job description

Type: 90-Day Contract (W2)
Location: Jersey City, NJ
Schedule: Hybrid - Onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays (minimum); remote the other 3 days.
Duration: 90-day contract, approved through the holiday season. Extension possible.
Start Date: ASAP
Hours / On-Call: 40 hours/week. On-call rotation during the holiday period. After-hours work is paid as approved overtime or offset with comp time.

About The Role

Our client needs a Senior Microsoft 365 Engineer to support and harden its Office 365 tenant through the holiday season. You will own tenant configuration and engineering work, resolve escalated issues, and keep collaboration and messaging services stable during the busiest stretch of the year.

What You'll Do

• Administer and engineer the Microsoft 365 tenant: Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
• Review and improve tenant configuration against Microsoft best practices and security baselines.
• Manage Entra ID (Azure AD) identity settings, including Conditional Access, MFA, and group-based licensing.
• Support device and app management through Microsoft Intune and Windows Autopilot.
• Configure and support Microsoft Purview features (DLP, retention, sensitivity labels) as needed.
• Act as the escalation point for complex M365 issues from the service desk and L2 teams.
• Automate administration with PowerShell and Microsoft Graph.
• Document configurations, changes, and SOPs; write how-to guides for support teams.
• Join the holiday on-call rotation for M365 service incidents.

What You Bring

• 7+ years in Microsoft systems engineering, with 5+ years focused on Microsoft 365 / Office 365.
• Deep hands-on experience with Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
• Strong Entra ID experience: Conditional Access, MFA, hybrid identity (Entra Connect).
• Experience with Intune and Autopilot for device and app management.
• Strong PowerShell scripting; Microsoft Graph experience.
• Solid knowledge of Active Directory and hybrid Microsoft environments.
• Clear communicator who can explain changes to non-technical users.

Nice to Have

• Microsoft certifications (MS-102 Microsoft 365 Administrator Expert, MD-102, SC-300).
• Experience with Purview compliance and Defender for Office 365.
• Retail industry experience; macOS / JAMF Pro exposure.
