Job summary

MITRE is seeking a Microelectronics Chief Engineer to lead the microelectronics capability within the Signals & Electronics Division. You will shape the technical roadmap, guide ASIC/FPGA design, and coordinate with sponsors, laboratories, and reusable assets to deliver high-impact national security solutions.

The role requires deep microelectronics expertise, multi-disciplinary leadership, and a Top Secret/SCI clearance. On-site work 4 days a week is expected at our Massachusetts location.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor's, 10 years with a Master's, or 7 years with a PhD.
• Deep expertise in microelectronics with significant ASIC/FPGA design work and hardware integration experience.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance; U.S. citizen as required.
• Requirement to work on-site 4+ days per week.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and shaping roadmaps or investments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the microelectronics technical roadmap aligned with division strategy and sponsor demand.
• Guide architectures, design, verification, and hardware evaluation; lead technical reviews and risk management.
• Translate sponsor needs into microelectronics approaches, integrating ASIC/FPGA, embedded systems, fabrication, and security expertise.
• Assess capability health and guide adoption of design methods, IP, and reusable assets.
• Mentor engineers and leaders through reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Communicate independent assessments to leadership and sponsors while ensuring governance.
