Job summary

Stellant Systems in Torrance, CA is seeking a Senior Micro-Electronics Assembler to perform precision assembly of microwave components under the Local 721 collective bargaining agreement. The role requires expert brazing, die attach, wedge-wedge bonding and gap welding, plus microscope-based work and interpretation of complex drawings.

The candidate will troubleshoot assemblies, work with Engineering on documentation updates, and help train others.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in a high-volume microwave or high-tech environment.
• 7+ years brazing, die attach, wedge-wedge bonding and gap welding processes.
• Must read and interpret mechanical drawings and work instructions.
• IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, MIL-STD-2000, NASA-STD-8739.3 or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Perform assembly from specifications, drawings, blueprints and data sheets.
• Assemble HI-REL channel housings and MIC assemblies via brazing, die attach, wedge-bonding and gap welding.
• Support electrical tuning tests and update assembly documentation and routers.
• Train defined area personnel and assist in other trainings as required.
• Maintain logs and paperwork per company policy.

Overview

Job Title: Senior Micro-Electronics Assembler

Job Location: Torrance, CA

Salary: $25.00-$35.00/hr DOE

This is an hourly position governed by the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America (Local 721) Collective Bargaining agreement.

The salary range provided is representative of all experience levels. Pay is based upon candidate experience, qualifications, skills, date of hire, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.

Performs standard assembly, die bonding, wire bonding, and installation steps for the components for microwave assemblies. The Sr Micro-Electronics assembler must be able to troubleshoot assemblies and work with Engineering to provide updates to assembly documentation and routers as required.

Responsibilities

Typical duties and requirements are not meant to be all encompassing but a general framework of requirements/responsibilities for:

• Responsible for performing works from specifications, drawings, blueprints, test procedures, data sheets, oral and written instructions independently.
• Mechanical assembly consisting of housing fabrication for HI-REL channel amplifiers.
• MIC assembly consisting of brazing, die attach, wedge-wedge bonding and gap welding.
• Support test for electrical changes being performed for tuning purposes.
• Exceptionally skilled at brazing, die attach, wedge-wedge bonding and gap welding processes.
• Ability to work under a microscope for extended periods of time
• Interpret job routers, written instructions, wiring diagrams and schematic drawings for assembly of electronics.
• Perform a variety of inspections to ensure assemblies meet or exceed standards
• Disassembling, modifying, reworking, re-assembling assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications and under simulated conditions.
• Perform basic troubleshooting with or without guidance from Engineering team.
• Serve as primary trainer for defined area. Ability to assist in other trainings as required.
• Must be proficient in building (meet or exceed the standard HPU or better) the majority of high complexity part numbers/processes as determined by the department’s leadership team.
• Must continuously meet/exceed production schedules and deadlines according to quality standards.
• Maintainlogs,paperwork, and forms accurately consistent with company policy and practices.
• Additional Duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

• 10+ years in a high-volume, microwave or other high technology experience.
• At least 7 years of brazing, die attach, wedge-wedge bonding and gap welding processes.
• IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, MIL-STD-2000, NASA-STD-8739.3, or equivalent
• Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings and detailed work instructions
• High School Diploma or GED Required

Certification/Licenses:

• IPC J-STD-001, IPC-A-610, MIL-STD-2000, NASA-STD-8739.3, or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

• Ability to work under a 60x microscope for extended periods of time
• Specific abilities for manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills: interpersonal, oral, and written
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks/projects
• Ability to work on a team as well as independently
• Basic Computer data input skills
• General knowledge of mechanical assembly processes and procedures, with previous precision mechanical assembly experience preferred.
• Ability to maintain productivity and to proactively move between job assignments without specific direction
