Job summary

Nidec Motor Corporation in Illinois seeks an experienced Layout and Inspection Supervisor to oversee incoming and first article inspections, run layout checks, and lead a team of Quality Inspectors using SmartScope and CMM. You will generate layout reports, support PPAP milestones, and ensure compliance with company and customer standards.

You will also advise designers on tolerancing and collaborate with other Nidec plants on governance in programming and measurement.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in layout inspections and metrology.
• Associates Degree and/or certification as Metrologist.
• Technician Diploma (Electrical, mechanical or computer program)

Responsibilities

• Supervise incoming inspection personnel.
• Prepare KPIs for SQA Manager and provide improvement plans.
• Complete layout inspection of all new and existing parts using SmartScope, CMM and other measuring instruments.
• Prepare for upcoming sample submission, input data to SmartScope and CMM for part measurement and generate layout reports.
• Prepare programs for components for incoming inspection use.
• Investigate quality issues via RFI process and take corrective actions.
• Advise designers to improve drawing dimensioning and tolerancing based on metrology best practices.
• Meet milestones for PPAP measurement and disposition.
• Support calibration and MSA activities with measurement equipment.
• Travel up to 10%.
