Job summary

New York State Electric & Gas, an Avangrid Company, seeks a Lead Engineer - Metering Services to guide the meter engineering team. The role ensures accurate, reliable metering aligned with state and national standards, and supports the meter test lab, reading, and purchasing for meters and related equipment.

The Lead Engineer will develop metering standards, work with Electric Systems, and mentor staff across departments.

Qualifications

• Requires ABET-accredited engineering degree; 7+ years experience or AS with 11+ years experience.
• Strong knowledge of planning, operations and engineering design.
• Ability to review and ensure compliance with company standards and contracts.

Responsibilities

• Lead Meter Test Lab and Meter Engineering activities; coach and plan team tasks.
• Ensure metering accuracy, reliability, current cost‑effective solutions; compliance with standards.
• Coordinate ISO data requirements with data analysts and RMS personnel.
• Develop internal metering standards and designs for customer and substation installations.
• Support cross‑department collaboration and provide off‑hour assistance during emergencies.
