Job summary

Engineering Systems Inc. (ESi) seeks a senior metallurgical and materials engineering expert to lead complex forensic investigations and root‑cause analyses for industrial, insurance, and litigation projects.

You will direct laboratory work, supervise site inspections, and author high‑quality technical reports while providing expert testimony and client presentations. A PE license and 6+ years of litigation consulting experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering, and/or Materials Science or related field required; Master's or Ph.D. strongly preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) required.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and coordinates complex forensic investigations and multidisciplinary projects as a senior metallurgical and materials engineering expert.
• Directs and oversees metallurgical laboratory work, site inspections, and failure analysis investigations.
• Performs and supervises advanced forensic root cause failure analysis in industrial, insurance, and litigation projects.
• Authors and reviews high-quality technical reports; provides expert opinions on metallurgical and materials engineering matters.
• Provides expert testimony at deposition and trial.
• Conducts well-developed and well-prepared client presentations.
• Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for assignment of project personnel.
• Directs and coordinates projects and teams within prescribed schedule and budget scopes.
• Works with Business Development to identify potential clients and strategies to build client base.
• Actively participates in Business Development activities, including client meetings, presentations, and appropriate conferences.
• Mentors consultants and senior consultants in technical and professional development.
• Actively seeks to develop professionally in skills, experience, and industry reputation.
