Senior Metal Fabricator - SF Metalworks

Ability to commute to Colusa, CA is required.

Lead. Organize. Build. Take pride in craftsmanship.

Bring projects to fruition using traditional fabrication methods and modern CNC technology to produce high-end custom architectural metalwork, including furniture, countertops, railings, wine cellars, doors, and more.

Major Responsibilities:

1. Utilize and maintain shop equipment.
   • Determine appropriate production methods based on project requirements.
   • Operate machinery independently at production levels.
   • Maintain equipment to ensure productivity and safety.
2. Work with various metal alloys, including precious metals, respecting their properties.
3. Ensure quality control, report errors, and provide solutions to maintain workflow.
   • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structures for flaws.
   • Ensure finished products are free of weld or dimensional defects and meet quality standards.
   • Creatively solve challenges to meet customer requirements.

Skills & Qualifications:

Hard Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical degree or certification in welding or fabrication preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in fine metalworking (architectural stainless steel, aluminum).
• Experience with architectural metals, including copper alloys.
• Strong layout skills.
• Mastery of machinery: Cold saw, bandsaw, hydraulic shear, drill press, belt sander, and manual tools; ability to operate or learn CNC press brake, powered angle roller (80 ton), and Bridgeport mill.
• Analytical thinker and problem solver with mechanical aptitude.
• Proficiency in TIG and MIG welding/cutting procedures.
• Knowledge of metal patination is a plus.
• Ability to read technical drawings and welding symbols.
• Follow verbal instructions accurately.
• Attention to detail and ability to set up components per specifications.
• Ability to work collaboratively and follow management directions for complex assemblies.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

This role involves working in a loud industrial setting, operating CNC equipment safely. Must be able to lift 50-75 lbs repeatedly, stand/walk for extended periods, and perform physical tasks such as stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing.

Hours & Compensation:

30-40 hours weekly, typically 5:00 am - 3:30 pm, Monday-Thursday. Wage varies based on experience; skills test required to determine salary.

Salary:

$25 - $38 hourly
