Job summary

Cloudflare seeks an engineer for its R2/ETI metadata systems in a role spanning design, development, and operations. You will work on a distributed SQL-backed metadata layer, building features that support billions of objects across clusters, while leveraging Cloudflare's edge network and AI-powered tooling to ship faster and more reliably.

You’ll collaborate with storage, networking, and platform teams, own end-to-end projects, and participate in on-call rotations to improve system reliability

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in TypeScript, Go.
• Experience with distributed databases and large-scale systems.
• Experience building or operating reliable distributed systems.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure concepts and edge computing.
• Understanding of reliability, observability, monitoring and incident response.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; collaborate across teams.
• Comfort with AI coding tools as part of daily workflow.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features in a metadata system backed by a distributed SQL DB.
• Build and operate production services on Cloudflare Workers and Kubernetes.
• Own schema, data model, and query patterns for metadata across clusters.
• Manage end-to-end projects from design to deployment and monitoring.
• Participate in on-call rotations and write postmortems to improve reliability.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate development and operations.
• Collaborate with storage infrastructure, networking, and platform teams.
