Job summary

Suffolk Construction is seeking a Senior MEP Project Manager in Los Angeles to lead mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection coordination across the full project lifecycle.

You will manage MEP subs, review submittals and requisitions, and coordinate with BIM/VDC, A/E teams, and owners to ensure on-time delivery and quality. Requires 10+ years MEP experience and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (technical/engineering degree) Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical and Fire protection
• Minimum 10+ years experience with Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection Systems
• Minimum of 5+ years of project management experience
• Strong computer skills i.e. MS Excel, Word, Outlook
• Ability to read and comprehend drawings and specifications
• Complete understanding of BIM/VDC coordination including various hit detection programs
• Knowledge of Local, City, State, and International building codes for the location of the project
• Knowledge of ASHRAE, NEC, NFPA, and LEED requirements
• Extensive knowledge of testing and balancing and commissioning practices
• Ability to make decisions quickly and accurately
• Ability to communicate at all levels

Responsibilities

• Review mechanical bid tabs and exhibit B in contract
• Interview and select sub-contractors for each project
• Day-to-day management of MEP sub-contractors
• Review and approve MEP monthly requisitions
• Review and approve MEP change orders
• Site walks to ensure schedule progress and updates
• Coordinate with BIM/VDC and Superintendent for schedule alignment
• Develop solutions with A/E team for coordination items
• Review all MEP submittals
• Obtain documentation from inspections and testing
• Oversee MEP & FP contractor and commissioning agent
• Coordinate with Owner third-party MEP contractors or testing agencies
• Obtain mechanical close-out documentation; as-builts and O&M
• Coordinate multi-trade portions of the project
• Develop equipment delivery logs and long-lead item submittals
• Attend weekly owner/subcontractor/coordination meetings
• Obtain AHJ approvals/sign-offs
• Work with retail/tenant fit-out where applicable
• Develop work lists and complete MEP punch list
• Coordinate owner training and turnover
• Coordinate with utilities for site requirements including temporary services
• Coordinate life safety inspections
• Ensure electrical requirements align with mechanical drawings
