Job summary

Turner Construction Company is seeking an experienced Preconstruction/MEP Estimator for projects in Reston, VA. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 3 years of estimating experience in MEP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from accredited program in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field and minimum of 3 years related Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection estimating experience, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Knowledge of Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems
• Ability to interpret contract documents, drawings, specs, scopes of work and project schedule for cost analysis
• Ability to collaborate with vendors, trade partners, and project team members
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient with estimating tools and software

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for Mechanical/Plumbing/Fire Protection trades based on design documents
• Prepare quantity take-offs, analyses, estimates, and studies for MEP items from concept to construction documents
• Analyze site conditions and contract documents to determine scope
• Develop relationships with suppliers and trade partners for pricing
• Conduct constructability analysis and communicate issues to project team
• Provide first costs analysis and lifecycle analysis with design team
• Coordinate equipment pricing with vendors; develop cost-efficient alternatives
• Assist in evaluating subcontractor proposals and change orders
