Job description

About the Job

Our client is a New York streetwear brand founded in 2009, designing fashionable, accessible apparel across denim, outerwear, knits, wovens, athleisure, and accessories for the everyday consumer.

The Senior Men’s Designer is responsible for creating commercially viable product designs across a mid-to-high-volume category mix — denim, knits, wovens, athleisure, and accessories — for the urban streetwear market. This role presents and delivers brand-right designs that tie back to the overall concept and business strategy, encompassing style, color/print, fit, and fabric across new and existing product lines. The Senior Designer researches and interprets fashion trends and consumer needs to uphold the integrity of the product line and brand, demonstrates a genuine passion for the brand, and uses strong managerial and leadership skills to plan and accomplish seasonal goals.

Responsibilities
Design Strategy & Creative Direction
  • Create and maintain brand-right, commercial designs that reflect the brand’s conceptual direction and business strategy across denim, knits, wovens, athleisure, and accessories
  • Support in seasonal design concepts, mood boards, color palettes, and print/graphic direction that tie back to the overall brand narrative
  • Develop seasonal product lines with a strong focus on style, fit, and fabrication across all categories
  • Partner with the Head of Design and Merchandising on line planning and assortment strategy to ensure a balanced, commercially sound collection
  • Identify opportunities for collaborations, capsules, or licensing that extend the brand’s reach and relevance in the streetwear market
Product Development & Technical Execution
  • Execute design sketches, prototypes, and detailed specifications with flawless follow-through, speed, agility, and attention to detail
  • Review tech packs and work directly with Production on spec accuracy, fit corrections, and sample development across the full calendar
  • Partner with the Head of Design to manage sample approvals and revisions through pre-production, ensuring designs are executed to standard at every stage
  • Partner with sourcing and mills/vendors on fabric development, trims, and washes to support seasonal concepts and cost targets
  • Translate cross-functional and consumer feedback into refined, finalized designs
  • Deliver on design commitments within budget and timeline, without compromising creative or product excellence
Trend Research & Market Awareness
  • Source new ideas internally and externally; conduct ongoing competitor research and trend analysis across streetwear, athleisure, and accessories markets
  • Attend trade shows, fabric fairs, and industry events to stay ahead of emerging trends, materials, and technology

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with Merchandising, Sales, and Production teams throughout the design and development process to ensure designs are commercially and technically viable
  • Present seasonal design direction and line concepts to the internal design team as well as key cross-functional directors and executive leadership
  • Anticipate and resolve potential design, fit, or production issues with sound conflict resolution
  • Build and maintain collaborative, effective relationships across all departments and with outside vendors/factories
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
  • Manage, mentor, and develop junior design talent, fostering growth and creative confidence within the team
  • Delegate and oversee design tasks across the team to keep the seasonal calendar on track
  • Continuously assess design and development practices to identify opportunities for greater efficiency and speed to market
  • Champion brand and design standards, ensuring consistency across all categories and touchpoints
