Job summary

Corning, a leader in glass, ceramic, and materials science, is seeking a Melting Engineer in Vineland, NJ. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges, drive process improvements, and support new product introductions while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

The position requires a BS in Engineering with 5+ years of melting engineering experience and Belt/yellow belt training.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
• 5+ yrs melting engineering experience.
• Yellow Belt Training.
• Track record of delivering results.
• Demonstrated knowledge in a technical field.
• Project team membership.

Responsibilities

• Provides day-to-day problem solving support to production, development and research operations.
• Trains operators and trades personnel on new equipment and processes.
• Uses rigorous processes and technical knowledge to build detailed technical understanding for key process steps.
• Functions as a team member or team leader on focused projects.
• Trouble shoots material, process and equipment issues, identifies root cause and implements corrective action.
• Implements and documents material, process and/or equipment changes.
• Uses simple statistical tools and Designed Experiments (DOE) in process problem solving and process improvement; Uses more sophisticated statistical tools and DOE techniques in problem solving and process/product improvement.
• Assure quality and repeatability of processes and products.
• Supports new product introductions through equipment installation, process certification, documentation and training.
• Assures safety of operators and equipment and Complies with safety and environmental regulations.
• Executes cost reduction and improvement (DMAIC) projects in line with business objectives.
