Job summary

Corning is seeking an Engineering Manager, Glass Melting System Design to join our Materials Conversion team at Sullivan Park in Corning, NY. This onsite role supports early-stage technology development with travel typically under 10%.

You will lead a small team of engineers and technicians, managing budgets and driving projects from concept through commissioning while coordinating with internal customers and program managers to align scope and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in a related engineering field with 10+ years of experience.
• 5+ years of direct people-management experience.
• Experience managing capital project budgets at tens of millions scale.
• Knowledge of glass melting processes or high-temperature materials/systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of engineers and technicians in melt-system design.
• Lead projects from concept through commissioning and startup.
• Own engineering design delivery across the portfolio with quality and timelines.
• Manage department budgets and capital project budgets.
• Partner with internal customers, program managers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Negotiate priorities and resources in a matrixed organization.
• Contribute to melting-system strategy and roadmaps with team communication rhythms.
