Job summary

Abbott in Plymouth, MN seeks an experienced R&D Engineer Project Manager III to lead catheter or implantable device programs from concept to commercialization, ensuring on-time delivery, budget adherence, and quality.

You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage risks, define scope, develop detailed plans, monitor milestones, and report status to stakeholders while driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years leadership experience in a medical device/high-tech industry.
• 4+ years of project management experience.
• PM certification (PMP) and/or advanced degree preferred.
• Experience with budgeting and financial tracking.
• Proficient with PM tools (MS Project, Smartsheet, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Plan, execute, and close catheter or implantable device projects on time, within budget, and within scope.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams, manage resources, mitigate risks, and inform stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Drive product development execution with a cross-functional team to meet project deliverables (product, features, COGS, timeline, capacity).
• Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables from concept through commercialization with stakeholders.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets with input from cross-functional team.
• Monitor progress, track milestones, and adjust plans as needed.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate risks, issues, and dependencies with escalation.
• Manage project resources including personnel and budget.
• Balance development speed with feature scope while meeting high quality expectations.
• Communicate project status, updates, and risks to stakeholders and leadership.
• Ensure alignment with goals, quality standards, and best practices.
• Facilitate meetings, maintain documentation, and ensure governance.
• Drive continuous improvement through lessons learned and process optimization.
