Job Summary
The Senior Medical Writer develops educational content directed to healthcare providers, patients, or internal pharmaceutical teams. This may include meeting content, slide decks, interactive PDFs, video scripts, etc. The incumbent is expected to become familiar with the product, science, and strategic issues for those products on which s/he works. The position interacts closely with other clinical and account team members to gain a thorough understanding of the scope and expectations of each project to create content that aligns with the client’s strategic objectives. The Senior Medical Writer creates client-ready quality material that demonstrates keen attention to editorial, references, and annotation details, and will have the ability to quickly process information to accurately translate and deliver to the target audience. Scheduling flexibility and timeline prioritization skills are essential for success in this role.
Job Responsibilities and Skills
Minimum Qualifications
Advanced medical or scientific degree (MSc, PhD, PharmD) preferred. Undergraduate degree in related discipline with an applicable combination of education and experience may be considered. Residency, fellowship and publication/writing experience or experience in medical or pharmaceutical field strongly preferred
Minimum of 2 years medical writing experience, preferably in a health care marketing or communications agency internship, preceptorship or equivalent.
Expert writing and editorial skills with a thorough knowledge of AMA style and medical terminology expertise.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Proven organizational and timeline prioritization skills; scheduling flexibility to accommodate work volumes and the ability to manage multiple assignments.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation skills
Experience working in teams and consensus building across the organization
Experience working under limited supervision and recommending appropriate solutions for problems throughout the project lifecycle
Resourceful, and demonstrate good judgment and leadership
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Travel:
Significant travel will be required to: a) clients for sales and customer support/maintenance, b) major medical conferences both in the US and internationally as identified as important by clients or where CM is conducting a supported function/meeting/activity within the designated specialties as well as other medical education conferences and meetings as required; c) to corporate office in New York, NY for management meetings? in? order? to? accomplish? the? goals? of this position.
