Position Overview

The MSL (Senior Medical Science Liaison or Principal Medical Science Liaison) is a field-facing representative of US Medical Affairs with a primary responsibility of engaging in the exchange of scientific data and other medical and/or scientific information with external customers (Health Care Providers, researchers, professional organization leadership, and population-based decision makers), including top echelon healthcare leadership, in the areas of Eisai's interest. The person in this position will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the customer's needs, issues, and priorities as they relate to Eisai's strategic business plan and is able to 'connect the dots' and see the 'big picture' as it relates to the business.

The Senior/Principal MSL brings relevant insights from the field on research developments, treatment landscape, and new concepts in medical treatment. The incumbent will also identify patterns and trends in KOL mindset and practices across geographies based on insights. The Senior/Principal MSL will assume a leadership role by coaching and mentoring other MSLs and by assuming responsibility for special projects as they arise.

Responsibilities

Senior Medical Science Liaison Responsibilities

• Act as the primary clinical/scientific resource to HCPs in the territory for information on disease state and Eisai's products to ensure awareness and understanding.
• Lead assigned professional congresses in accordance with the MSL plan, including all activities related to congress coverage.
• Present clinical, scientific, and economic data on Eisai's products and relevant therapeutic areas to decision-makers.
• Lead projects as appropriate.
• Establish and maintain relationships with KOLs in therapeutic areas of interest.
• Serve as primary contact for external investigators regarding IIS submissions, providing site selection recommendations and scientific expertise.
• Mentor and train new or less experienced colleagues; participate in strategic planning and special projects.

Principal Medical Science Liaison Responsibilities

• Build advocacy and serve as a conduit for accurate scientific information between KOLs and Eisai's Medical Affairs and R&D groups.
• Propose strategic solutions to clinical practice issues uncovered through field insights.
• Participate in executing Eisai's strategy at scientific meetings and facilitate KOL interactions.
• Manage complex, often national scope projects, providing strategic direction to other MSLs.
• Provide insights for developing new resources and strategies.
• Contribute to strategy, budget, and resource planning, including talent development.
• Guide and train new or less experienced colleagues.

Qualifications

• Doctorate in medical or health sciences (MD, PhD, PharmD, DPH, EdD).
• For Sr. MSL: 1.5-3+ years in pharma/biotech, preferably in Oncology, or equivalent experience.
• For Principal MSL: 8+ years in Oncology, with at least 5 years as an MSL or equivalent experience.
• Experience in teaching, coaching, mentoring.
• Knowledge of oncology disease management and broad scientific/pharmaceutical knowledge.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Experience in clinical research, drug development, or clinical pharmacy; understanding of commercial strategies.
• Established relationships with Oncology/Hematology KOLs preferred.
• Willingness and ability to travel (~60%), including overnight and international travel.
• Must maintain a valid driver's license and be able to set up a home-office.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range for Sr. MSL: $160,100 - $210,100 USD annually.

Salary range for Principal MSL: $182,200 - $239,085 USD annually.
