Summary :

Senior Medical Science Liaison or Principal Medical Science Liaison is a field-facing representative of US Medical Affairs with a primary responsibility of engaging in the exchange of scientific data and other medical and/or scientific information with external customers (Health Care Providers, researchers, professional organization leadership, and population-based decision makers), including top echelon healthcare leadership, in the areas of Eisai's interest. The person in this position will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the customer's needs, issues, and priorities as they relate to Eisai's strategic business plan and is able to 'connect the dots' and see the 'big picture' as it relates to the business. They will bring relevant insights from the field on research developments, treatment landscape, and new concepts in medical treatment. The incumbent will also identify patterns and trends in KOL mindset and practices across geographies based on insights. They will assume a leadership role by coaching and mentoring other MSLs and by assuming responsibility for special projects as they arise.

The impact that a Senior Medical Science Liaison or Principal Medical Science Liaison will have on the organization includes: communicating key information about Eisai, the company, and its mission, and key scientific/clinical information about Eisai's products, demonstrating good judgment, emotional intelligence, business acumen, and therapeutic knowledge. Effectively communicating relevant and balanced scientific and clinical information on Eisai products, seeking feedback from decision makers and healthcare practitioners to ensure patients' needs are met; leveraging various communication channels to share ideas about future research collaborations. Bringing relevant insights from the field on research developments, treatment landscape, and new concepts in medical treatment. Providing corporate value through demonstrated leadership and strategic thinking.

Responsibilities :

Act as the primary clinical/scientific resource to HCPs in the territory for disease state and Eisai's product information. Lead assigned professional congresses in accordance with the MSL plan, including all activities. Present clinical, scientific, and economic data on Eisai's products and relevant therapeutic areas. Lead projects as appropriate. Establish and maintain peer relationships with KOLs. Serve as primary contact for external investigators for IISs and provide recommendations. Mentor and train new hires and less experienced colleagues; participate in strategic planning and special projects.

Principal Medical Science Liaison Responsibilities :

Build advocacy and serve as a conduit for accurate medical information between KOLs and Eisai. Propose strategic solutions to practice issues uncovered in the field. Participate in scientific meetings and coordinate KOL interactions. Manage complex projects and provide strategic direction to other MSLs. Contribute to resource development and strategic planning. Provide guidance and training to colleagues.

Qualifications :

Advanced degree in medical or health sciences (MD, PhD, PharmD, etc.). For Sr. MSL: 1.5-3+ years in pharma/biotech, preferably in Oncology. For Principal MSL: 8+ years in Oncology, with at least 5 years as an MSL. Experience in mentoring, broad scientific knowledge, and relationships with KOLs in Oncology. Willingness to travel (~60%), possess a valid driver's license, and set up a home office. Salary ranges are provided for each role, with additional benefits and participation in incentive plans.
