Senior Medical Science Liaison – Gastroenterology (GI)
Location: Bengaluru / Hyderabad
Geographical Coverage: South & East India
Reporting to: Therapy Area Head – GI and Oncology, Takeda India
Position Purpose
The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Gastroenterology (GI) will serve as a key field-based scientific expert within Takeda India, providing high-quality, balanced, and up-to-date scientific information related to Takeda’s GI portfolio. The role is designed to foster scientific engagement with healthcare professionals (HCPs), key opinion leaders (KOLs), and academic institutions, to support evidence-based clinical practice and contribute to improved patient outcomes.
This position is critical in driving medical strategy implementation in the field, gathering actionable medical insights, and ensuring effective communication of scientific and clinical data across South and East India.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Expertise & Knowledge Dissemination
- Serve as a regional expert in Gastroenterology, maintaining advanced knowledge of disease states, treatment guidelines, evolving clinical data, and the competitive landscape.
- Provide accurate, fair-balanced, and up-to-date scientific information on Takeda’s GI portfolio to external stakeholders.
- Interpret and communicate complex clinical and scientific data to diverse audiences in a clear and meaningful manner.
External Stakeholder Engagement
- Establish and maintain strong, credible, and long-term scientific relationships with KOLs, HCPs, investigators, and academic stakeholders within the assigned geography.
- Facilitate scientific discussions and medical education initiatives aligned with Takeda’s strategic objectives.
- Represent Takeda at national and regional medical conferences, symposia, and advisory board meetings.
Internal Collaboration & Medical Education
- Provide scientific training and medical education to internal teams including sales, marketing, regulatory, and market access to ensure accuracy and consistency of medical information.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional colleagues to align medical and commercial strategies, ensuring scientific rigor in all customer-facing activities.
- Deliver actionable medical insights from the field to inform medical strategy and planning.
Clinical Research Support
- Support clinical research initiatives, including identification of potential investigators and study sites, engagement of clinical research stakeholders, and support for investigator-initiated studies (IIS).
- Ensure alignment with clinical development teams on protocol-related education and study execution.
Compliance & Reporting
- Conduct all activities in accordance with applicable regulations, ethical standards, Takeda policies, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of field activities, medical insights, and HCP interactions in compliance with Takeda’s systems and processes.
Education & Experience
- MBBS/MD (preferred). Candidates with PhD, PharmD or MDS with relevant medical affairs or MSL experience will also be considered.
- Minimum 1–3 years of experience in a Medical Science Liaison or relevant medical affairs role within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry, preferably within Gastroenterology or related therapeutic areas.

Workstyle & Travel Requirements
- Field-based role with approximately80% of time spent in the field, engaging with healthcare professionals, KOLs, and other key external stakeholders across South and East India.
- Approximately20% of timededicated to internal collaboration, strategic planning, and contributing to Takeda’s medical affairs initiatives.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the assigned geography.
