Job summary

Redeemer Health is seeking an allied health professional to join the Core Lab team in a role that supports physicians with laboratory results and expert technical information. You will perform automated and manual tests, interpret results, and troubleshoot procedures while maintaining strict quality control.

You will assist the Core Lab Supervisor with staff scheduling and provide technical supervision; in their absence you will oversee the Core Lab.

Qualifications

• Must meet CLIA 88 personnel requirements for moderate and high complexity testing.
• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related science field from an accredited institution; or, must meet CLIA grandfathered medical technologist requirements.
• At least four years of experience.
• Specialty certification by a recognized certifying agency preferred (ASCP, ASMT, NCA).

Responsibilities

• Provides in-depth technical information to management on request.
• Performs laboratory procedures to obtain results for physicians in diagnosis and treatment.
• Works independently with minimal supervision and communicates with healthcare professionals.
• Assists Core Lab Supervisor with staff scheduling and technical supervision, and oversees Core Lab in supervisor’s absence.

SUMMARY OF JOB

Assists the management team in providing in depth technical information as requested. Performs laboratory procedures to obtain results for physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases using established protocols that require the broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision. Works independently and communicates effectively with other healthcare professionals.

Provides assistance to Core Lab Supervisor for staff scheduling and technical supervision, and oversees the Core Lab in absence of Core Lab Supervisor.

Demonstrates ability and knowledge to independently perform, interpret, and troubleshoot clinical laboratory tests, both automated and manual, within established time frames with accuracy and precision. Assists Core Lab Supervisor in instructing personnel on technical procedures and ensuring conformance with department standards. Able to perform multiple tasks such as phlebotomy, quality control procedures, ordering, computer functions, and other duties as assigned.

LICENSE AND REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

Specialty certification by a recognized certifying agency for clinical laboratory professionals preferred (ASCP, ASMT, NCA, etc). Must actively demonstrate the pursuance of specialty certification in chosen field of clinical expertise.
