US Bureau of Prisons/Federal Prison System seeks a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist. Requires a bachelor’s or graduate degree with biology, chemistry and math coursework and successful NAACLS-accredited MLS/CLS training.

Also requires a full 4-year program with 12 months in a medical technology setting and additional education/experience as outlined. Applicants must have two years of graduate study toward a master’s degree and at least one year of specialized clinical

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or graduate degree with biology, chemistry and math coursework and NAACLS-accredited MLS/CLS program.
4-year course with 12 months in medical technology program or approved training.
Two years of graduate education leading to master’s degree or equivalent.
Certification/licensure as a medical technologist (generalist) is a good indication of qualifications.

Responsibilities

Experience in all clinical laboratory disciplines including hematology, chemistry, microbiology and immunohematology.
Ability to conduct quality control on equipment, reagents and products.
Ability to write and establish procedures in laboratory medicine per CAP and JCAHO standards.
