Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology per CLIA standards.
• National certification (or eligibility) by ASCP or equivalent.
• Advanced or Master's degree in area of specialization is desirable.
• Operate equipment and perform tests; interpret results for accuracy.
• Care for patients considering aging processes and cultural patterns.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and determines suitability of solutions, reagents and stains for tests.
• Applies advanced knowledge to conduct and interpret specialized tests.
• Participates in research projects and develops new procedures.
• Acts as technical resource for staff and troubleshoots equipment.
• Reviews literature to stay current on procedures and innovations.
• Contributes topics to journals and educates students/residents.
• Provides clinical education and experiences for learners.
• May interview staff candidates and participate in reviews.
• May perform duties of a Pathology Technologist when required.
