Qualifications

• Bachelor\'s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or closely related field or equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA standards.
• National certification (or eligible) in Medical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology by ASCP or equivalent.
• Advanced or Master\'s degree work in area of specialization is desired but specialized knowledge can also be obtained through equivalent work experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients with consideration of aging processes, human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.

Responsibilities

• Investigate incidents to identify probable causes and propose resolutions.
• Prepare and determine suitability of solutions, reagents and stains following standard formulas and procedures.
• Apply advanced knowledge in a specific laboratory section to conduct and interpret routine, specialized and innovative tests.
• Participate in research projects and implementation of new laboratory procedures.
• Perform complex clinical laboratory tests and monitor testing procedures.
• Record and review test results and discuss findings with physicians when necessary.
• Provide technical guidance and direction to other staff on complex testing issues.
• Contribute to clinical instruction of students and residents.
• Train new employees and supervise lab personnel.
• Review QC and maintenance records and assist in writing procedures.
• Monitor and maintain equipment; calibrate, troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance.
