Job summary

UNLV Health seeks a Senior Medical Documentation Auditor to support the Compliance Program. You will design audits of medical records, train clinicians, and respond to inquiries to ensure documentation aligns with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities include conducting reviews, preparing detailed audit reports, and mentoring staff on ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding. This hybrid role requires a proactive, detail‑oriented professional.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in healthcare compliance, medical coding, and/or related field required or minimum of eight (8) years of experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
• Certified Professional Medical Auditor (CPMA) certification required.
• Proficiency in applying ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding and billing guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and execute reviews of medical records for compliance with documentation and coding guidelines.
• Develop and conduct education programs for physicians and clinical staff on documentation and coding.
• Prepare detailed audit reports highlighting deficiencies and recommendations for improvements.
• Ensure correct application of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes across diagnoses and procedures.
• Research and respond to inquiries related to medical records documentation.
• Analyze audit data to identify trends and inform improvements in coding accuracy.
• Assist with internal and external audits and onboarding of new physicians.
