Job summary

UNLV Health is seeking a Senior Medical Documentation Auditor in Las Vegas to lead audits of medical records, educate clinicians, and ensure compliance with documentation and coding standards. The role supports the Compliance Program under the Associate Director of Compliance.

Candidates should have CPMA certification and extensive experience in healthcare coding, with a strong emphasis on HIPAA and regulatory compliance. This is a hybrid role requiring travel between local facilities.

Qualifications

• Experience conducting Medical Record audits and applying federal/state coding rules.
• Ability to communicate audit results to clinicians and staff clearly.
• Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding and billing guidelines.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and execute audits of medical records for compliance with documentation, coding and billing guidelines.
• Educate physicians and clinical staff on documentation and coding requirements.
• Prepare detailed audit reports with findings and actionable recommendations.
• Apply ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS coding knowledge to audits and reports.
• Research inquiries from providers and staff regarding documentation and coding.
