Job summary

Alcon seeks a Principal Software Engineer to maintain, enhance, and support software for on-market medical devices. You will drive changes from EOL updates, supplier hardware, cybersecurity, and field issues while collaborating with global teams to ensure quality and regulatory compliance.

The role requires hands-on development, testing, and cross-functional work to enable reliable software updates and lifecycle management. Onsite in Lake Forest, CA.

Qualifications

• Must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 5 years of relevant experience.
• Experience with medical device software and regulatory guidelines is preferred.
• Proficient in C++ and C# with Windows and RTOS interfaces.
• Strong collaboration across cross-functional teams and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Code and update software for on-market medical device systems.
• Collaborate with software development teams, Support, Field Service, Manufacturing and other ops.
• Troubleshoot issues and implement compliant software changes.
• Maintain configuration management and change control per CM Plan.
• Document and run unit/integration tests; contribute to test scope and methodologies.
• Ensure post-market release procedures for software changes; travel 10–20%.
