Job summary

Terumo Neuro in California is seeking a Principal R&D Engineer to lead development of medical device products, write specifications, and supervise testing and process design. You will drive cross‑functional collaboration and mentor technicians to meet project goals.

You will guide test methods, data analysis, and regulatory submissions while maintaining quality and ethics across the organization. A strong background in engineering and device development is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Materials Science Engineering required.
• 10+ years of relevant work experience in medical device industry.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to design and develop medical devices.
• Ability to read and prepare technical documentation.
• Knowledge of medical and technical development.
• Expert proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Minitab, SolidWorks and CAD systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop new product concepts and lead design using engineering disciplines.
• Provide engineering design and process development and sustain engineering support.
• Develop products or processes, and capabilities to support them (test methods, equipment, data analysis, etc.).
• Generate invention disclosures and intellectual property.
• Direct specification and testing of new materials and designs.
• Collaborate with departments to prepare design modifications and resolve problems.
• Support regulatory submissions and approvals.
• Lead projects and mentor Assemblers, Technicians, and others as needed.
• Lead test method development, data analysis, and root cause investigations.
