Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Sr. Equipment and Automation Engineer in Madison, WI to lead design transfers and provide manufacturing support for medical devices. You will create and update SolidWorks parts and assemblies, manage the SolidWorks PDM library, and drive documentation to satisfy GMP, FDA and ISO standards.

The role requires a hands-on mechanical engineer who can work cross-functionally, perform risk assessments, and lead continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience or an Associate’s with 7+ years in engineering/CAD.
• Ability to create documentation per regulatory and quality requirements.
• Experience with design transfers, design reviews, and risk assessments.
• Proven capability to support GMP-compliant manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support design transfers and product changes.
• Create and maintain SolidWorks parts, drawings, and assemblies.
• Develop processes for new equipment and support retrofit projects.
• Conduct root cause analysis and lead corrective actions.
• Support and document FDA/ISO CAP requirements and quality systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to improve quality.
