Job summary

Medtronic is seeking a seasoned engineer for Released Product Engineering (RPE) of surgical stapling devices. Lead design improvements, CAPA activities, and project initiatives from concept to implementation.

You will mentor juniors and present status to management, ensuring product reliability and manufacturability. The role requires strong technical skills, collaboration with peers, and adherence to SOPs and design controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree plus 4+ years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with 2+ years.
• Nice to have mechanical design experience.
• Ability to interpret varied technical information and manage abstract/concrete variables.
• Knowledge of DRM, DFSS and/or Six Sigma concepts.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; experience with medical device design and validation.
• Experience with FEA, tolerance analysis, and design verification.

Responsibilities

• Provide imaginative, practical solutions to technical issues in product design.
• Lead or champion initiatives from concept through implementation and present to management.
• Provide leadership/mentorship to junior engineers.
• Develop testing to verify product meets requirements; review protocols and results.
• Investigate customer complaints and determine root causes and corrective actions.
• Incorporate regulatory standards in development projects.
• Contribute new designs and prototypes; participate in DFx processes.
• Collaborate with suppliers; participate in FMEA; design for manufacturability/assembly.
• Prepare documentation per SOPs; manage project documentation.
