Job summary

Medasource is seeking a senior Medical Affairs writer to lead scientific content across oncology programs, including strategy, development of complex materials, and mentorship of content teams. The role emphasizes rigorous interpretation of clinical data, adherence to regulatory standards, and collaboration with global medical leads.

The position supports remote teams across the Eastern or Central US, with a 12-month contract length and start around September.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree with 5+ years of medical writing or scientific communications.
  • Deep therapeutic area expertise in data interpretation and content development.
  • Proven ability to elevate content with scientific rigor.
  • Experience supporting Medical Affairs initiatives including advisory boards and KOLs.
  • Experience working across matrixed teams.
  • Experience with content management systems like Veeva Vault.
  • Strong governance, compliance and quality oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the scientific content lead and primary scientific authority for assigned therapeutic areas.
  • Collaborate with TA Medical Leads to translate strategies into scientifically rigorous content plans.
  • Lead development of complex Medical Affairs content and provide scientific direction.
  • Develop and oversee deliverables including decks, congress content, and digital assets.
  • Monitor content quality, compliance, and audit readiness across deliverables.
  • Apply referencing standards and guidelines to ensure rigor and compliance.
  • Serve as senior content interface to Medical leadership and cross-functional partners.
  • Drive continuous improvement through standardized workflows and AI-enabled approaches.
  • Collaborate with project managers to support prioritization and execution of content initiatives.
  • Foster content excellence through scientific coaching and knowledge sharing.

Job description

Contract Length: 12 months (w/potential to extend)

Remote (ideally located in Eastern or Central US)

9-5pm (ET or CT)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the scientific content lead and primary scientific authority for assigned therapeutic areas, providing expert guidance on evidence interpretation, scientific positioning, and content development approaches while ensuring accuracy, clinical relevance, and strategic alignment across medical content
  • Collaborate with Therapeutic Area (TA) Medical Leads to translate therapeutic area strategies into scientifically rigorous content plans and deliverables that support Medical Affairs objectives
  • Lead the development of complex Medical Affairs content and provide scientific direction, mentorship, and decision support to content managers and medical content contributors, without direct line-management responsibility
  • Develop and oversee assigned deliverables, including slide decks, scientific exchange materials, training resources, congress content, digital assets, and field medical tools in alignment with approved standards and therapeutic area objectives
  • Monitor content quality, compliance, consistency, and audit readiness across assigned deliverables, and proactively address scientific or content-related risks
  • Apply referencing standards, PRT requirements, and content development guidelines to ensure scientific rigor and compliance
  • Serve as the senior content interface to TA Medical leadership and cross-functional partners, resolving escalated content issues and aligning on content priorities, approaches, and deployment plans
  • Drive continuous improvement through standardized workflows, content reuse strategies, and AI-enabled approaches while ensuring scientific accuracy, appropriate human oversight, regulatory compliance, and preservation of scientific integrity
  • Collaborate with project managers and operations leads to support effective prioritization, planning, and execution of content initiatives across therapeutic areas
  • Foster content excellence through scientific coaching, knowledge sharing, and best-practice development
Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent) with 5+ years of medical writing, scientific communications, or clinical content creation experience. Master's degree with 7+ years or Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience may be considered
  • Deep therapeutic area expertise with demonstrated ability to interpret, synthesize, and communicate complex scientific and clinical data
  • Advanced expertise in scientific storytelling, evidence synthesis, publication interpretation, and development of high-complexity Medical Affairs materials
  • Demonstrated ability to challenge, refine, and elevate scientific content through scientific rigor, critical thinking, and therapeutic area expertise
  • Experience supporting Medical Affairs initiatives, including scientific exchange, advisory boards, speaker programs, congress activities, field medical resources, and KOL engagement
  • Demonstrated success influencing stakeholders, mentoring peers, and leading through expertise in a matrixed environment
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills with a high level of scientific and operational judgment
  • Detail-oriented execution with strong governance, compliance, and quality oversight capabilities
  • Experience with Veeva Vault, Content Factory, CRM platforms, and/or other content management and digital asset ecosystems
  • Experience working effectively across geographically dispersed teams
Skill Set Requirements:
  • Medical Communications experience
  • Agency experience at some point in their career
  • Oncology experience-- preferably background with prostate cancer
  • Content creation experience- both hands on and strategy. Approx 60% strategy/mentorship and 40% hands on and quality control
  • 5) 5+ years' experience with PharmD, PhD, etc. 7+ years with Masters. 10+ years w/ Bachelor's. Need consistent and strong experience in this area.
  • 6) Customer service mindset, experience servicing internal stakeholders, and ability to work in fast paced environment
Nice to Haves:
  • Experience w/prostate cancer
Education/Certification(s)/License(s):
  • Ideally a pharmD or phD. Will accept Masters w/7+ years' experience in relevant area or bachelor's w/10 years in relevant work
