Job summary

East Alabama Medical Center is seeking a professional coder to thoroughly review clinical documentation and diagnostic results, applying ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers for billing and reporting.

The role involves interacting with hospital staff, physicians, and revenue cycle teams to ensure accurate coding, compliance, and data integrity across internal and external reports.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Attend continuing education workshops, webinars, etc., for coding compliance and maintenance of CEUs.
• Demonstrate excellent organizational, computer, written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrate strong Microsoft Office knowledge skills.
• Must possess working knowledge of Official Coding Guidelines and AHA Coding Clinic.
• Strong time management and critical thinking skills.

Responsibilities

• Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data and apply ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers for billing and reporting.
• Interact with hospital staff, physicians, and other revenue cycle team members as needed.
• Support regulatory compliance, internal/external reporting, and research initiatives.
