Job summary

athenahealth is seeking a Senior Coding Associate in Customer Insights to evaluate customer readiness and drive successful adoption of the athenaOne Medical Coding Service. You will translate customer needs into scalable process improvements and manage projects across stakeholders.

The role requires CPC/CCS certifications, 3+ years of coding experience, strong analytical skills, and Microsoft Office proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (or commensurate level of professional experience).
• CPC and/or CCS certification from AAPC or AHIMA required.
• 3+ years of professional experience in Medical Coding.
• Experience with cross-functional groups and communicating to stakeholders.
• Experience communicating with customers and/or medical providers.
• Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
• Experience implementing computer-assisted coding or coding automation tools preferred.
• Auditing medical charts for accuracy to support coding decisions and compliance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, OneNote.

Responsibilities

• Analyze provider documentation and audits to identify opportunities to improve documentation and system usage.
• Analyze customer configurations and practice information to identify gaps and potential disruptions.
• Drive continuous process improvement to boost efficiency and outcomes.
• Design solutions that favor automation and product enhancements over manual workflows.
• Master workflow design using Lean Six Sigma and related methods.
• Identify opportunities to expand value for clients through better services.
• Manage multiple complex projects concurrently with proper prioritization.
• Create presentations for internal leaders and external customers.
• Provide mentoring and create collateral for new hires across the team.
