Job summary

athenahealth is seeking a Senior Coding Associate within the Customer Insights team to drive customer adoption of the athenaOne Medical Coding service. You’ll translate customer needs into process improvements and manage multiple projects with stakeholders.

The role requires CPC/CCS certification, 3+ years of coding experience, and strong communication skills. A Lean Six Sigma mindset and SQL experience are pluses in a cross-functional environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or commensurate level of professional experience.
• CPC and/or CCS certified from AAPC or AHIMA required.
• 3+ years of professional experience in Medical Coding.
• Experience communicating with customers and/or medical providers; cross‑functional collaboration.
• Experience implementing code automation tools preferred.
• Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, OneNote; SQL experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze provider documentation and audits to identify opportunities for clients to improve documentation and system usage.
• Analyze customer configurations and practice information to identify gaps and potential disruption.
• Design solutions that favor automation and product enhancement over manual workflows.
• Master workflow design via Lean Six Sigma or similar methods, considering dependent processes.
