Job summary

Mount Sinai Morningside is seeking a Medical Assistant II to provide clinical office support to physicians and surgeons while performing patient care and administrative duties. The role includes mentoring less experienced staff and ensuring high-quality patient flow and records in a busy academic setting.

Responsibilities span venipuncture, EKGs, vitals, charting, EMR entry, and coordination with surgical teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with Medical Assistant certificate.
• 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• BCLS certification required.
• Promotion to Level II contingent on performance (in-house).

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and/or EKGs, manage patient flow and assist exams.
• Assist physicians, take vitals, and relay instructions to patients.
• Manage medical records and EMR-based forms and filing.
• Enter orders in EMR and process prescription refills for clinician review.
• Inventory and restock medical supplies; set up exam rooms.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection control standards.
• Check medication expirations and dispose per policy.
• Ensure safe, compliant work environment and PPE use.
• Schedule surgeries/procedures and prepare charts/pre-admissions.
• Train and mentor Level I MA staff; adjust MA schedules.
