Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, PR, or related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in journalism, PR, or marketing communications.
• Strong journalism and PR knowledge, including news writing, editing, AP style.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with strong English grammar.
• Strong organization and project management; handle multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Knowledge of photography; taking and selecting impactful photos.
• Meet Memphis hybrid schedule; travel regionally; reliable transportation.
• Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and operate office equipment.
• Coordinate media events and implement PR plans with focus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute media relations plans, identify reporters and outlets, build media lists.
• Build reporter relationships and secure regional, niche, and national coverage.
• Write and edit news releases, holding statements, remarks, briefs in AP style.
• Organize press conferences; coordinate interview logistics and media training.
• Advise stakeholders on media strategies across platforms and manage expectations.
• Respond to media inquiries and support issues management and crisis messaging.
• Monitor news and coverage; analyze earned media and report findings.
• Manage PR agency and media monitoring vendor relationships and reporting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver timely communications.
