Job summary

Qualifications

• 5+ years of medical billing and coding experience, including at least 3 years processing Medi-Cal claims.
• Proficiency with ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Strong knowledge of California Medi-Cal billing requirements and managed Medi-Cal plans.
• Experience with payer requirements, denials resolution, and appeals.
• Ability to collaborate with providers, clinical teams, and payers.

Responsibilities

• Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on provider documentation and payer requirements.
• Submit and manage electronic and paper claims for Medi-Cal, Medicare, and other payers.
• Monitor claim status, resolve denials, appeal underpaid claims, and support compliant reimbursement.
• Reconcile payments, AR balances, and aging reports to prioritize collection efforts.
• Partner with providers and staff to improve documentation accuracy and revenue cycle outcomes.
• Train and mentor billing staff; assist with audits, month-end reporting, and productivity metrics.
