Job summary

Venturi Astrolab, Inc. in Hawthorne, CA is seeking a Sr. Design Engineer (Test & R&D) to lead mechanical design of test infrastructure for aerospace hardware from concept through fabrication and deployment.

The role focuses on mechatronics test beds, environmental fixtures, CNC fixtures, and GSE, collaborating with Test Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, and Electrical/Electronic teams to ensure robust, repeatable hardware in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of mechanical design engineering experience.
• Experience designing hardware for CNC machining, welding, fabrication, or additive manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical test beds and integrated test systems for component, subsystem, and system-level testing.
• Develop structures, frames, mechanisms, motion systems, fixtures, mounts, enclosures, and equipment interfaces.
• Integrate mechanical hardware with sensors, actuators, motors, instrumentation, and controls.
• Design fixtures and GSE supporting environmental testing (vibration, thermal, vacuum, etc.).
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and manufacturing documentation.
