Job summary

Flex is seeking a Senior Mechanical Test Development Engineer in Austin, Texas to design and support automated test equipment and fixtures for PCBAs and HLAs. You will collaborate across electrical, software, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective test solutions throughout the product lifecycle.

The role requires a bachelor's in mechanical engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience, with hands-on skills in fixture design, GD&T, SolidWorks, and fixture

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in mechanical design, test development, or manufacturing engineering.
• Experience designing electromechanical fixtures and test mechanisms.
• Experience developing manufacturing test fixtures for PCBAs or HLAs.
• Experience supporting Automated Test Equipment (ATE) development.
• Experience with fabrication suppliers and machine shops.
• Experience with Pneumatic Fixture Design and Bed-of-Nails Fixtures.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop turnkey mechanical solutions for automated manufacturing test systems.
• Create electromechanical fixtures, mechanisms, and tooling for functional testing of PCBAs and high-level assemblies.
• Develop robust mechanical interfaces that support reliable electrical connection, product alignment, and repeatable testing.
• Design fixture structures utilizing pneumatic, vacuum, spring-loaded, and other motion-control techniques as required.
• Support fixture standardization and modular design initiatives to improve development efficiency.
