Job summary

Waters Corporation seeks a Senior Opto-Mechanical Technician to join our Development Engineering team. You will assemble prototypes, test equipment, and troubleshoot electro/opto/mechanical systems in a fast-paced NPD environment.

The role is a 6-month contract through Waters' staffing partner, with pay range $30-$38 per hour. On-site position located in Massachusetts, Milford, with opportunities to extend based on project needs.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience as an opto-mechanical/mechanical technician or similar role.
• Experience using hand tools and lab equipment.
• Experience using computer-based testing products; proficient in following assembly and testing procedures.
• Good verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist Development Team with technical support to meet project schedules.
• Assemble prototypes, sub-assemblies, engineering builds, trade show units.
• Test components, PCBs, sub-assemblies and modules under engineer guidance.
• Troubleshoot problems with systems, instruments, modules, or components.
• Procure material internally and externally.
• Rework material or instruments as required.
• Identify root cause and potential design improvements.
• Maintain 3D printers and other lab equipment.

Overview

Waters is seeking a Senior Opto-Mechanical Technician to join our Development Engineering team. This individual will effectively assemble, test, and troubleshoot electro/opto/mechanical problems in a fast-paced new product development environment. This role provides opportunities to contribute or lead daily development activities in both an individual and team capacity. Utilize computer skills to perform basic data collection. Provide analysis during prototyping and engagement with the engineering team analyzing designs.

This role is an initial 6 month contract with potential to extend. The individual will be hired as a contingent worker through Waters' primary temporary staffing partner. Pay Range: $30-38 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Assist Development Team with technical support necessary for the department to meet project schedules in alignment with objectives.
• Assemble prototypes, sub-assemblies, engineering builds, trade show units, etc.
• Perform testing of components, PCBs, sub-assemblies and modules under the direction of Development Engineers.
• Assist in troubleshooting problems associated with systems, instruments, modules, sub-assemblies, components, etc.
• Procure material internally and externally.
• Rework material or instruments as required.
• Identify root cause, design issues or design improvements
• Assist with departmental tasks such as maintainence/operation of 3D printers and other lab equipment.

Qualifications

• Education:
  • Vocational High School or technical degree is preferred.
  • Knowledge of opto/electrical/mechanical instrumentation.
• Experience:
  • One to three years of experience as a opto-mechanical/mechanical technician or a similar role
  • Experience using hand tools and lab equipment.
  • Experience using various computer based software testing products.Proficient in following assembly and testing procedures.
  • Good verbal and written communication.
