Qualifications

• 10+ years in structural mechanics, materials characterization, or physics-based simulation.
• Ownership of a technical domain end-to-end with scoping and decision authority.
• Production-grade software development in a shared codebase (version control, testing, CI).
• Physics-first modeling: derive mechanics and validate against measurements.
• Solid mechanics depth: beam/deflection and elastic-plastic behavior.
• Material characterization: stiffness, damping, wear from data.
• Numerical methods: discretization, linear algebra, time integration, optimization.
• Collaborative engineering: integrate into a shared codebase with teammates.
• Performance engineering: vectorization, parallelism, compiled extensions, GPU where warranted.
• Python at depth: NumPy/SciPy stack and large sweeps.

Responsibilities

• Model structural response under load and predict deflection and errors.
• Characterize material behavior from test data and generalize across geometries.
• Parameterize and sweep simulations at scale across size, material, speed, and load.
• Build a production-ready simulation data pipeline with schemas and provenance.
• Validate predictions against measurement data and quantify uncertainty.
• Write solvers and production code with robust interfaces.
• Develop production software, modular and well-documented.
• Optimize hot paths for high-volume parameter sweeps.
• Collaborate with platform teams to integrate models into the codebase.
• Shape the simulation roadmap with team input.
• Mentor colleagues and document assumptions for reuse.
