Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Operations & Engineering Manager for our Washington, D.C.

area site. You will serve as the primary SME for chilled water, cooling towers, steam, and hydronic systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and technical integrity of mechanical facilities. Reporting to site leadership, you will lead complex troubleshooting, validation of SOOs, and coordination with controls/BAS teams to optimize operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with minimum 10+ years of experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil) with 5+ years in facilities operations, engineering, or maintenance management.
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Expert level knowledge and field experience with HVAC and mechanical systems.
• Planning and management acumen including labor forecasting and vendor management.
• Working knowledge of codes, standards, and compliance requirements; client-facing communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead as the site’s mechanical SME for HVAC, chilled water, steam, and hydronic systems.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and root cause analyses to improve reliability.
• Provide technical oversight of vendors and contractors to ensure quality and compliance.
• Review sequences of operation and coordinate with controls/BAS teams to optimize performance.
• Analyze maintenance strategies and contribute to reliability-centered maintenance practices.
• Mentor and train HVAC technicians and operating engineers; support major repairs and outages.
• Operate within site processes (Work Control, QC, SOPs) with execution focus.
