Job Summary
Join us as a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer and lead the end-to-end mechanical design of custom automated machinery and tooling-from small R&D rigs to full-scale production systems. You'll collaborate directly with customers to define specifications, mentor junior engineers, and partner with interdisciplinary teams (controls, software, production) to deliver fully integrated, highly reliable automation solutions. Your work will encompass CAD modeling, prototyping, supplier coordination, onsite commissioning, and upholding rigorous standards in materials, GD&T, and industry compliance.

Responsibilities
- 6+ years of proven mechanical design experience in custom automated equipment
- Proficiency sizing/specifying actuators, sensors, vision systems, pneumatics, and peripherals
- Mastery of SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD) and creating precise 3D models + 2D engineering drawings
- Solid knowledge of materials, fabrication processes (machining, welding), and GD&T per Y14.5M-2009
- Excellent written/verbal communication and problem-solving skills
- BS (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- 10+ years in machine design for industrial automation or equipment manufacturing
- Familiarity with CE marking, NFPA 79, SEMI S8 compliance
- Experience specifying vision system components-lenses, lighting, filters, sensors
Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design of custom automated systems and tooling, ensuring optimal performance, cost, and schedule alignment
- Develop and champion best practices, standards, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Integrate off?the?shelf and custom robotics, actuators, sensors, vision systems, and automation peripherals
- Build 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings; develop and test prototypes when needed
- Mentor junior engineers-reviewing and approving their work for quality and accuracy
- Guide the production team during build and commissioning phases
- Coordinate with project managers, controls engineers, software teams, suppliers, and customers to refine requirements and ensure smooth execution
- Support equipment deployment and troubleshooting at customer sites when required
