Job summary

The Air Force Safety Center in New Mexico is seeking a senior advisor to provide expert direction on mechanical safety for AF nuclear weapons systems. You will analyze hazards, formulate certification criteria, and represent AFSEC on DoD and AF boards.

Responsibilities include developing policy and guiding safety programs for weapons storage, handling, transport, and maintenance, coordinating with DOE and interagency partners.

Qualifications

• Education verification may be required with transcripts; foreign education requires accreditation and equivalency documentation.
• Accreditation must be recognized by the Department of Education; applicants must verify credentials when applying.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional and expert technical direction and assessment on mechanical safety issues for nuclear weapons systems.
• Develops AF policy and formulates nuclear certification design criteria for mechanical safety aspects of all AF nuclear weapon systems.
• Serves as AFSEC representative on DoD/AF boards and interagency meetings; coordinates with DOE and other project offices.
