Job summary

Upchurch is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee large-scale mechanical construction projects from pre-construction through close-out. This role ensures profitability and operational excellence across multiple projects in HVAC, plumbing, and process piping within commercial construction.

The position requires mentoring project teams, developing client relationships, coordinating with general contractors and engineers, and driving lean practices and safety.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of experience managing mechanical construction projects in commercial/industrial settings.
• Proven track record leading multi-million-dollar projects.
• Expert knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, piping systems, and construction sequencing.
• Strong financial acumen and experience with budgets and contracts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore, Viewpoint.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple high-value mechanical projects.
• Drive pre-construction efforts including estimating support and scope definition.
• Develop and manage budgets, schedules, procurement strategies, and manpower planning.
• Serve as executive point of contact for clients, GC, engineers, and stakeholders.
• Guide and oversee PM teams including PMs, APMs, and Project Engineers.
• Review and approve contracts, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and billing.
• Monitor performance metrics: productivity, cost, risk, and cash flow.
• Partner with field leadership and safety to ensure safe, high-quality installations.
• Resolve design coordination, logistics, and resource management challenges.
• Support Lean construction, prefab opportunities, and process improvements.
• Assist in hiring and retaining top project management talent.
