Job summary

Mantis Innovation in Los Angeles, CA seeks a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to identify, design, and implement utility and infrastructure improvements across client facilities. You will lead site surveys, feasibility studies, and cost estimates to support informed investment decisions.

The role demands delivering accurate technical recommendations, strong engineering solutions, and coordinating design-build activities with internal teams and client partners. Travel locally as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• 5–10 years of experience in development, design, or delivery of utility system modernization or energy efficiency projects.
• Experience supporting industrial and/or commercial projects; technical experience with utility, HVAC, mechanical systems.
• Ability to independently manage engineering work and coordinate with clients and partners.

Responsibilities

• Conduct site surveys and collect data to establish project baselines and client needs.
• Analyze facility infrastructure to identify energy, water, and operational improvements.
• Perform feasibility studies and technical evaluations for utility modernization and energy efficiency solutions.
• Develop project scopes, savings calculations, and investment-grade cost estimates.
• Prepare technical recommendations and supporting documentation for proposals and decisions.
• Lead design engineering activities, ensuring quality and alignment with objectives.
• Coordinate internal and external engineering resources to deliver on schedule and scope.
• Manage engineering support for implementation, including design-build coordination and incentives.
