Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced mechanical engineer to mentor a team and translate customer requirements into robust baggage-handling systems. You will work with Electrical, Controls, and Supply Chain teams to optimize system functionality and deliver 3D models in Revit and AutoCAD.

The role requires 12+ years of experience in mechanical design and project leadership, with strong Autodesk and Microsoft tool proficiency. Domestic travel up to 10% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• Minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience.
• Experience in project management or leading teams.
• Material handling experience.
• Ability to translate concepts into detailed system designs.
• Proficiency with Autodesk tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks) and Microsoft tools (Excel, Project).
• Willingness to travel up to 10% domestically with occasional international trips.
• Knowledge of TSA/OSHA regulations and general contractor experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Mentor, coach, and help develop engineers.
• Translate customer requirements into innovative, fully functional mechanical systems.
• Optimize baggage-system functionality with cross-functional teams.
• Design and deliver mechanical models using Revit and AutoCAD 3D.
• Perform spatial analyses of clearance envelopes, ergonomics, and maintenance access.
• Perform system- and component-level calculations (throughput, motor power, belt pull).
• Coordinate building interfaces, resolve clashes, ensure constructability.
• Support procurement with bills of materials and RFQs.
• Provide complete engineering documentation for installation and project execution.
• Assist installation and commissioning teams on-site and remotely.
