Job summary

PTR Global is seeking a Principal Operations Engineer, Mechanical to serve as the senior technical authority for operational mechanical and cooling infrastructure across a hyperscale AI data-center fleet. The role requires leading site assessments, audits, and technical-readiness, with travel to multiple sites.

The position emphasizes expertise in chilled water systems, cooling towers, liquid-cooling architectures, and field-based operations.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience operating critical mechanical systems with a focus on AI workloads.
• Strong knowledge of chilled water systems, chillers, cooling towers, and CDU operation.
• Proven ability to author and execute high-risk mechanical procedures (MOPs/EOPs/AOPs).
• Experience leading root-cause analysis for major cooling events in live environments.
• Ability to assess operational readiness and elevate technical standards across sites.
• Capable of teaching and building mechanical readiness in teams before activation.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the senior technical authority for operational mechanical and cooling infrastructure.
• Lead site assessments, operational audits, and technical-readiness efforts before activation.
• Review designs from an operational perspective and provide improvement feedback.
• Oversee readiness and handoffs from commissioning to operations for new sites.
• Author and approve high-risk mechanical MOPs, EOPs, and AOPs.
• Lead root-cause analysis for significant cooling events and drive closure.
